Song #022: Joshua Radin - One of Those Days (off Simple Times - 2008)
There are many awesome things about Josh Radin that I only learned once I looked up his wikipedia page. He played Ellen and Portia’s wedding (!!!), he had a cameo in Garden State (which is a movie I remember disliking)… but mostly he is one of those musicians whose music is most widely known as soundtrack songs from hit TV shows (and I think he’s almost done them all). While I don’t watch any of those shows, that’s some pretty crazy exposure.
I downloaded a sampler from some website two years ago (I wish I could remember - it’s an effing awesome sampler: Brandi Carlile, Meiko, Serena Ryder, Dar Williams, Noise Addict among others!) and this has been my #1 rainy day song since then.
I know what you’re thinking:
1) It’s Canada Day. Why feature some dude from Ohio when I could be spreading the True Patriot Love? Well, I featured Joel Plaskett four days ago. That said, if I could be anywhere tonight it would be Alderney Landing in Dartmouth, NS.
2) Today was so gorgeous that listening to a rainy day song seems ridiculous. I am aware - I spent a good portion of my afternoon in a park in Kensington Market being attacked by pigeons and approached by adorable dogs. It seems irrelevant, though, for some reason.
3) This is a great song. Uh… yeah it is.
A cool girl I know on Twitter, Elena, says “His voice is all buttery and delicious, like a warm biscuit or something.” This is ALSO true.
Well damn I waited too damn long to post this, so it’s not even Canada Day anymore. I shouldn’t have spent so long watching cute guys get patriotically drunk on blogTV. Sorry. Postfail.
