Song #30 - Ely et Lila - Ma drôle de vie (off Tout ce qui Brille - 2010)
Today is Bastille Day. It’s a pretty big deal to French people, and since last year’s Bastille Day was so much fun (I’ll tell that story in a vague, fictionalized manner sometime) it has become kind of a big deal to me as well. I’m not French, but I’m fluent in the language and especially have a fondness for Francopop. Remember my gushing, girlcrush-filled Marie-Mai post?
Well, for the next week, I’m only going to post songs in French. It’s my first theme week, and I’m super-excited. About 1/8 of my iTunes library isn’t in English, so I’m looking forward to listening to Yéyé and Quebecois indie rock and rap from West Africa.
Today’s song is a fun selection. It’s off the soundtrack of a French teen flick called “Tout ce qui brille,” and it’s sung by the two main characters. I’ve never seen this movie (though it looks delightfully too young for me), so I can’t say whether it’s a musical or the French Hannah Montana or what, but this song is effing catchy, modern girl francopop at its finest.
Bonne fête nationale!
